West Virginia Adds Charlotte DB Transfer Dontez Fagan

NCAA Football: Big 12 Football Media Days

Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers added a new name to their roster this spring with the commitment of Charlotte defensive back transfer Dontez Fagan.

Fagan spent the previous season with the 49ers after starting his career at Independence Community College.

As a junior for the 49ers, Fagan was a solid player in Charlotte’s secondary. In 2023, the Oklahoma native recorded 21 tackles, four pass breakups, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Coming out of Independence Community College in the Class of 2023, Fagan was listed as a two-star prospect by the 247Sports index. He was listed as the 47th-ranked JUCO prospect and the 58th-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

As an impressive JUCO prospect, Fagan held offers from 15 different programs, including New Mexico State, Buffalo, Kent State, Central Arkansas, Georgia Southern, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, and more.

With his commitment, Fagan became the Mountaineers’ first spring addition through the transfer portal and will take the field in Morgantown for the first time on Saturday, August 31st, against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
