Kansas State forward David N’Guessan is returning to Kansas State for his fifth season of college basketball.

After spending two seasons with the Virginia Tech Hokies from 2020-2022, the Netherlands native elected to transfer to Kansas State to join Jerome Tang and the Wildcats.

While Kansas State’s roster has lost many players from the previous season due to graduation and the transfer portal, the return of N’Guessan is a huge boost in the frontcourt. The senior forward is one of three returning Wildcats from the previous season, alongside Macaeleb Rich and Taj Manning.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound big man posted some solid numbers in his senior season, averaging 7.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his second season in Manhattan. In addition to his impressive scoring numbers, N’Guessan was also an efficient scorer, connecting on 58.4% of his shots from the field.

N’Guessan is the lone starter returning for Kansas State this season and will likely join a cast of high-profile transfers. Jerome Tang and company have already added four players through the portal this offseason, including Michigan’s Dug McDaniel (No. 48), UIC’s CJ Jones (N/A), Villanova’s Brendan Hausen (No. 129), and Arkansas’ Baye Fall (No. 156).

While the Wildcats may not have had the season they envisioned in Jerome Tang’s second year with the program, the addition of David N’Guessan goes a long way toward fielding a competitive roster in 2024-25.
