According to Joe Tipton of On3, one of the best players available in the transfer portal has made his decision. Former Oklahoma State big man Brandon Garrison is headed to Kentucky to play for Mark Pope and the Wildcats.

This was a major victory for Pope, who pried Garrison away from Stillwater over Oklahoma and Texas, among other suitors.

Garrison, listed at 6-foot-11, is coming off his freshman year with the Cowboys, where he averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

The former McDonald’s All-American recorded double-digit points in 10 games this past season and reached the 20-point mark on three occasions. He was a hot commodity after entering the portal, with Oklahoma and Texas emerging as the early favorites to land the talented freshman. However, as time pressed on and more programs became involved, it became increasingly clear that OU and UT were likely on the outside looking in.

Garrison took a visit to Arkansas this weekend, with John Calipari and the Razorbacks appearing to be a late contender to land his services.

However, Garrison opted to go with Calipari’s previous employer, that is now under the leadership of former BYU head coach Mark Pope.

The Wildcats added OU standout Otega Oweh a couple of days ago and could be the frontrunner to land Javon Small, the No. 1 transfer PG, out of Oklahoma State as well.

It appears that Pope with the backing of the UK brand could be a major problem for college basketball, and particularly in the Sooner State as of late.
