Oklahoma G Kaden Cooper Enters Transfer Portal

Oklahoma men's basketball coach Porter Moser.

Oklahoma guard Kaden Cooper, a former four-star prospect and No. 60 overall player in the Class of 2023, will enter the transfer portal after spending just one season in Norman.

A native of Ada (Okla.), Cooper was the crown jewel of the Sooners’ 2023 recruiting class and was listed as the nation’s No. 16 point guard coming out of high school.

During his freshman year with Oklahoma in 2023-24, Cooper appeared in 15 games, averaging 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds per game for Porter Moser’s group.

His most extensive time on the court came on November 14, 2023, when he got 14 minutes against Texas State. Cooper went 2-for-4 from the field and 3-of-6 from the stripe to total eight points with two rebounds.

He would log more than two minutes four more times all year, with 47 of his 68 total minutes coming in games against Texas State (14 mins) Arkansas Pine-Bluff (10 mins), Green Bay (11 minutes), and TCU (12 minutes).

There wasn’t a ton of experience for Cooper to pull from going into next season, but he was expected to be a starter for Moser’s group after a bevy of other pieces elected to enter the transfer portal.

Now, his late portal entry leaves Oklahoma with even more questions after a less-than-ideal offseason to this point. The Sooners now have three spots to fill on their roster before next season and will need to pull off a miracle or two if they’re going to make an NCAA Tournament run in Porter Moser’s fourth season.
