Look: Lamar Jackson Approves Of Ravens TE Charlie Kolar’s New Braids
Former Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar is heading into his third season with the Baltimore Ravens and will look to capitalize on his second-year campaign, which resulted in appearances in 15 games with seven receptions for 87 yards and one score.
The former fourth-round pick has carved out a solid backup role behind All-Pro TE Mark Andrews, but he could be set to move up the depth chart—at least in terms of style.
On Thursday, Kolar showed up to the Ravens’ facility for offseason workouts rocking a skull cap, and when he took it off in the locker room, Lamar Jackson spotted his tight end’s new hairdo and couldn’t control his excitement.
Jackson’s reaction is priceless, but Kolar’s new nickname, “white chocolate,” is what really puts it over the top for the Ravens’ offensive reserve.
The Ravens’ media team caught up with Kolar later in the day to get a little more context on the new look.
“I just wanted to try something new,” Kolar said. “I’ve never really seen a white guy with twists or braids before, so I wanted to see how it looked.”
Apparently, former Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill has great braids and Kolar used his connection to get the new look. Hill’s hair lady, Kia, shared Kolar’s new look on her IG page as well.
“It came out better than I thought, honestly. I didn’t know how it would look. But I thought it was solid,” Kolar said.
“It’s kind of funny. I don’t take myself too seriously. It’s also May. It’s not like we’re in the middle of the season. I have time to take it out.”
