Colorado Football Adds Louisville DL Transfer Tawfiq Thomas

NCAA Football: Arizona at Colorado

While Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has been the subject of criticism lately for his approach to roster management in the era of the transfer portal, Coach Prime’s image is not stopping Colorado from finding talent in the portal.

On Friday, Sanders and the Buffaloes added a new name to their roster with the commitment of Louisville defensive line transfer Tawfiq Thomas.

While Thomas didn’t see the field much during his two-year career with the Cardinals, his presence is much appreciated on a rebuilding Colorado defensive line. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound sophomore recorded a total of 12 tackles in two seasons at Louisville.

Coming out of Gaither High School in the Class of 2022, Thomas was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 866th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 116th-ranked player at his position and the 116th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

An impressive prospect in the Class of 2022, Thomas elected to commit to Louisville over offers from 18 different programs. He received offers from Kansas, Iowa State, Michigan, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Miami, Syracuse, and more.

With his commitment, Thomas heads to Boulder as the team’s ninth addition through the transfer portal.
