High Point Guard Duke Miles Transfers to Oklahoma

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Oklahoma

Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners added a new name to their roster on Friday with the commitment of High Point guard transfer Duke Miles.

Miles, a 6-foot-3 guard from Montgomery, Alabama, spent the first three seasons of his career at Troy before transferring to High Point as a senior.

The Alabama native posted some impressive numbers in his senior season, averaging 17.5 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game. In addition to his impressive scoring numbers, Miles was also an efficient scorer, connecting on 52.8% of his shots from the field and 36.1% on shots from three.

The addition of Duke Miles is a major breath of fresh air for Sooners fans as the 2023-24 offseason has been brutal to follow for Oklahoma. Sooners fans have witnessed four of the team’s key contributors enter the transfer portal, including Javian McCullom, John Hugley IV, Otego Oweh, and Milos Uzan, as well as some foundational depth pieces.

With his commitment, Miles became the Sooners’ third addition this offseason and will join Dayton’s Kobe Elvis and Fairfield’s Brycen Goodine in Norman in 2024-25.

With Porter Moser and the Sooners getting set for their first season as members of the SEC in 2024-25, the team has pulled out all the stops to land top players this offseason. While the addition of Miles is a step in the right direction, Oklahoma still has a long way to go in order to field a competitive roster in the upcoming season.
