Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights added a new name to their roster on Friday with the commitment of Central Michigan offensive line transfer Keegan Smith.

Smith, a 6-foot-3 offensive lineman from Jackson, Mississippi, has seen action in 12 games for the Chippewas as the team’s starting right guard in 2023.

The 295-pound big man is the latest addition to an impressive class of spring transfers at UCF, becoming the team’s eighth addition through the spring transfer portal window. Smith joins Ohio State’s Cedric Hawkins, Miami’s Nyjalik Kelly, USC’s Tre’Quon Fegands, Miami’s Jacurri Brown, Toledo’s Peny Boone, Ohio’s Jacoby Jones, and East Tennessee State’s Sheldon Arnold.

Coming out of Lumen Christi High School in the Class of 2020, Smith was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1965th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 123rd-ranked player at his position and the 45th-ranked player in the state of Michigan.

The addition of Keegan Smith is one of many impressive moves this offseason for Gus Malzahn’s staff, and after revamping the roster through proven players in the transfer portal, UCF appears to be primed and ready to work their way toward a championship run in 2024-25.
