Grant McCasland and the Texas Tech Red Raiders added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 season with the commitment of three-star forward Leon Horner III.

Horner, a three-star from Dallas, elected to join the Red Raiders over offers from eight different programs, including Sam Houston State, Hofstra, Mount St. Mary’s, Tarleton State, and more.

Coming out of Dynamic Prep High School in the Class of 2024, Horner is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index. He also checked in as the 65th-ranked player at his position and the 21st-ranked player in the state of Texas.

In his senior season at Dynamic Prep, the Texas native averaged 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. With his commitment, Horner became the Red Raiders’ first addition in the Class of 2024 but will join the likes of several high-profile transfers in Lubbock.

In addition to Worner, Texas Tech has already secured commitments from Minnesota’s Elijah Hawkins, Pittsburgh’s Federiko Federiko, and Drake’s Kevin Overton.

While Grant McCasland’s first year at the helm featured a trip to the NCAA Tournament and a fourth-place finish in Big 12 play, the Red Raiders are pulling out all of the stops this offseason in hopes of building on the solid foundation from Year One.
