Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys added a new name to their roster, sophomore wide receiver Gavin Freeman, who elected to transfer from Oklahoma.

Freeman, a three-star prospect from Oklahoma City, elected to join the Sooners in the Class of 2022 but will now make the jump to Stillwater in 2024.

Through two seasons with the Sooners, the Oklahoma native posted a total of 22 grabs for 141 yards and a score. As a threat in the rushing attack, Freeman also recorded 12 carries for 91 yards and found the end zone once.

Coming out of Heritage Hall High School in the Class of 2022, Freeman was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1744th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 133rd-ranked player at his position and the 28th-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

With his commitment, Freeman became the Cowboys’ second addition through the transfer portal this spring, alongside former Indiana running back Trent Howland. Freeman and Howland both are solid additions to Oklahoma State’s transfer portal class which checks in as the nation’s 63rd-ranked unit.

Freeman and the Cowboys will play for the first time in 2024 on Saturday, August 31st, against the South Dakota State Jack Rabbits.
