In a recent interview with Turner Sports’ Andy Katz, Kansas head coach Bill Self confirmed the Big 12 Conference’s plans to move to a 20-game conference schedule in 2024-25.

With Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah joining the Big 12 in July, the league is shifting to a new regular-season model to accommodate each conference matchup.

Self sat down to discuss the offseason with Katz and slipped into the conversation that the league is planning on a 20-game conference schedule for the upcoming season.

You can watch the entire conversation here.

The change in scheduling adds two new games to the Big 12 regular season, as members of the league played 18 games in 2023-24. The addition of the “Four Corner” schools, while incredible for the overall growth and stability of the league, posed some unique challenges in scheduling due to conference realignment.

With the league set on its format for the upcoming season, the real winners are college basketball fans around the country who will now have two more games to watch with teams from the best conference in college basketball going at it.

The Big 12, led by Brett Yormark, continues to find itself at the forefront of innovation. As college athletics continue to rapidly change, the Big 12 Conference has found a way to emerge from the chaotic landscape with more stability than ever.
