Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners added a new name to the Class of 2025 with the addition of four-star defensive back Trystan Haynes.

Haynes, a 6-foot-2 cornerback from Oklahoma, was a hot commodity coming out of high school and chose the Sooners over offers from 20 different programs.

The Sooners beat out some impressive programs to land the Oklahoma native, including Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Georgia, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, TCU, and more.

Coming out of Carl Albert High School in the Class of 2025, Haynes is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 119th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the 12th-ranked player at his position and the third-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

Haynes spoke with 247Sports’ Collin Kennedy about his recruitment and mentioned what was the deciding factor in the process, saying, “Just to be able to stay at home and represent my state, and go out and compete with my teammates from Carl Albert, and be able to put Oklahoma on the map as a national powerhouse while we’re competing in the SEC. That’s what mainly did it for me.”

Haynes and the rest of the future Sooners will have an opportunity to see their team take the field for the first time in 2024 on Friday, August 30th, against the Temple Owls.
