On Wednesday, The Athletic released its initial list of the top 25 prospects for the 2025 NFL draft, and as we’ve come to expect, it’s littered with players from the SEC and Big Ten. The SEC has 12 players on the initial list, while the Big Ten has eight players on the list.

That leaves just five prospects to come from other conferences, and the Big 12 has four of them, with Notre Dame claiming the lone remaining player.

According to the consensus list, the first quarterback isn’t listed until No. 10, and it’s not Colorado star Shedeur Sanders, it’s Georgia’s Carson Beck.

Despite many seeing him as the top signal-caller and overall prospect in next year’s class, The Athletic has him listed as the No. 17 overall prospect at this time.

Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter is the top-ranked Big 12 prospect at No. 6 overall prospect, and the former No. 1 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class is likely to live up to that billing.

The next Big 12 prospect listed might surprise some folks, but if you’ve paid attention to Arizona football, seeing Tetairoa McMillan at No. 9 makes plenty of sense. At 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, McMillan will be the best possession receiver in the conference this season and has an incredibly high ceiling at the next level.

The final Big 12 player on the list checks in at No. 25, and is the second Arizona Wildcat to make an appearance: cornerback Tacario Davis. The veteran defensive back opted to stick with UA after entering the portal back in January.

The Big 12’s newest additions are packing some serious firepower when it comes to NFL talent, and it’ll be interesting to see how well that translates to wins in losses in what should be the most entertaining conference race in the country.
