Arizona State Basketball Adds USC Transfer Forward Brandon Gardner

Bobby Hurley and the Arizona State Sun Devils added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024-25 season with the commitment of USC transfer forward Brandon Gardner.

Gardner, a 6-foot-8 freshman from Georgia, played limited minutes in his freshman season with the Trojans and will now depart for Arizona State.


An impressive player in his class, Gardner chose the Trojans over offers from 21 different teams, including Kansas, Alabama, Illinois, Clemson, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, and more. Despite playing just four minutes for USC in his freshman season, the former four-star prospect is currently listed as the 391st-ranked player in the transfer portal and the 66th-ranked power forward.

Coming out of Christ The King Regional High School in the Class of 2023, the Georgia native was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 93rd-ranked player. He also checked in as the 38th-ranked player at his position and the fifth-ranked player in the state of New York.

With his commitment, Freeman became the third player to commit to Arizona State in the transfer portal, joining Ole Miss’ Austin Nunez and Milwaukee’s BJ Freeman. Freeman, Nunez, and Gardner will take the court this season as members of the Big 12 Conference in 2024-25 with ASU.
