One member of the Kappa Sigman Fraternity Chapter at the University of Oklahoma was removed from the house for shouting racist and homophobic language at bystanders on April 20th, the day of the OU spring game.

Former Oklahoma football player Ryan Broyles posted on X Thursday morning that he and his sons were subjected to racist remarks from someone inside of Kappa Sigma while passing by the house on a walk.

Broyles posted three names of those involved on social media and followed the tweet with an update that reads, “I won’t speak on it anymore. There has already been an internal investigation. The names I mentioned have already been identified. There are over 15 witnesses. There has been fault admitted. I simply posted to shed light on the current situation. We can do better! “

Oklahoma later released a statement on the situation, both condemning the behavior and supporting the decision to remove the individual from Kappa Sigma. OU wrote, “This swift response underscores the organization and our university’s commitment to maintaining a campus environment that is inclusive, respectful, and safe for all. We recognize the vital role of education, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to fostering a culture of respect, integrity, and accountability among our student body and the broader community.”

Kappa Sigma Fraternity’s Vice President of External Affairs, Leo J. Brown IV, penned a letter to OU Daily’s Peggy Dodd about the national stance on the situation and mentioned that individuals willing to use that kind of derogatory behavior and language will suffer a similar fate.

“Our Chapter will take action regarding the membership of anyone involved in the incident,” Brown said. “Any member displaying such vile acts will be expelled from the Fraternity.”
