Oklahoma Lands Alabama Transfer Forward Mohamed Wague

Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners added a new name to their roster on Tuesday when former Alabama forward Mohamed Wague committed through the transfer portal.

Wague, a former member of the West Virginia Mountaineers, played just 8.5 minutes per game last season for the Crimson Tide as a reserve big.

As a sophomore in 2023, the New York native averaged 3.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 8.5 minutes per game on average. Wague connected on 62.7% of his shots from the field, including 50% from three (1-2).

Coming out of Harcum College in the Class of 2022, Wague was an unranked JUCO prospect who received offers from four different programs. The underrated big man elected to join the West Virginia Mountaineers over offers from BYU, San Jose State, and Wichita State.

With his commitment, Wague became the Sooners’ fifth addition through the portal this offseason, alongside High Point’s Duke Miles, Dayton’s Kobe Elvis, Long Beach State’s Jadon Jones, and Fairfield’s Brycen Goodine.

While the five additions have helped to round out some of the Sooners’ portal losses, Porter Moser still has a long way to go toward fielding a championship roster in 2024-25.
