Former Oklahoma State point guard and Fox Sports radio host Doug Gottlieb is set to become the men’s basketball coach at Green Bay, according to a report from Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported that Gottlieb was a “serious candidate” for the opening at Green Bay, which was confirmed on Tuesday morning with the reports of him being hired.

One interesting note about Gottlieb’s hire is that, according to Goodman’s report, he is set to continue hosting his daily FOX radio show while taking on the responsibilities of head coach with the Phoenix.

How he’ll manage to stay on the radio and be successful in being a Division I head basketball coach is anyone’s guess, but as they say, if there’s a will, there’s a way.

Gottlieb recently made headlines when he threw his hat in the ring when his alma mater was searching for a head coach.

“You know I want that job,” Gottlieb told The Oklahoman. “[I understand] what we have, what we need, what needs to be fixed, how to get the culture back in line, how to bring back the alumni, how we need to connect better with Stillwater and with the students and all of Oklahoma. I fully believe I can fill up the gym, and I can get the NIL.”

Ultimately, the Pokes opted to hire Steve Lutz from Western Kentucky, but Gottlieb will now head to Wisconsin and start the process of getting some coaching experience under his belt.

Who knows, maybe Oklahoma State will be looking for a head coach again in a few seasons, and by that time, Gottlieb could be a prime candidate to take over for the Cowboys.
