There was plenty of buzz around Colorado Football and Head Coach Deion Sanders last season. After shocking the world in a 45-42 season-opening victory against No. 17 TCU, all eyes were on Sanders and company.

The Buffaloes started the season 3-0 before losing eight of their last nine games, placing them last in the Pac-12. The squad finished with an overall record of 4-8, including only one conference win.

This will also be Colorado’s first season competing in the Big 12 since leaving the conference in 2010.

According to 247Sports, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders are both listed as “Heisman Trophy Candidates” ahead of the 2024 season, bringing high expectations to a team that was the worst in its conference.

The Buffaloes will open up the season against North Dakota State on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7:00 p.m. CT on ESPN, marking the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

After defeating Nebraska 36-14 on Folsom Field in the second game of the 2023 season, the Buffaloes will travel to Lincoln for a rematch with the Cornhuskers the following week on Saturday, Sep. 7, on NBC. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.

The last time Colorado played on NBC was the 1995 Fiesta Bowl in a win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Last season’s double-overtime victory over in-state rival Colorado State drew 9.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched late-night ESPN game ever.
