Scottie Scheffler is the biggest name in golf right now. He’s the No. 1 player in the world, and he’s won four of the last five events that he’s played in, including the Masters, the Players Open, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

After starting the PGA Championship at Valhalla at -4 on Thursday, which started with an Eagle on Hole 1, it appeared that Scheffler was well on his way to another fantastic weekend.

That all came to a screeching halt in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to ABC News, a man was fatally struck by a shuttle bus as he tried to cross a road near the course holding the PGA Championship around 5:00 a.m. this morning. The incident required a police barricade, which restricted traffic flow heading into the course clubhouse.

On his way to play his second round, Scheffler was arrested for allegedly driving the roadblock at the Valhalla Golf Club, and almost all of it was caught on camera, thanks to Jeff Darlington of ESPN. The video is already approaching 10M views just a couple of hours after the incident.

Scheffler was processed and released from jail around 8:40 p.m. and returned to the course about 45 minutes ahead of his tee time, which was just after 10:00 a.m. local time.

The world-famous athlete now faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic, according to ESPN.

A situation such as this always sparks some sort of reaction on social media, but the way Twitter reacted to the events of this morning was truly hilarious.
