BYU Women’s Basketball Lands Kemery Martin
After stints with both Utah and California, 6-foot guard Kemery Martin transferred to the BYU Cougars after averaging 6.7 points for the Golden Bears last season.
In the 2022-23 season, Martin started 30 games while averaging 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. She shot consistent from three-point range, knocking down 38.7% of her attempts from deep.
This past season, she helped California reach a 19-15 overall record.
The former Utah Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged 11.1 points and 2.5 rebounds during her sophomore season with the Utah Utes. Martin was also ranked as a five-star recruit out of high school, according to ESPN.
The Sandy, Utah native returns back to her home state, once again to play in front of her family and friends.
Head coach Amber Whiting also added Santa Clara transfer Marya Hudgins and Buffalo transfer Hallie Ogden from the portal this offseason.
BYU is coming off its first season playing in the Big 12 Conference, where the team finished with a 16-17 record (6-12 in Big 12 play). Last year, the Cougars were led by forward Lauren Gustin who finished the season with averages of 16.7 points and 15.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3% from the floor as well.
