JUCO All-American Transfer Chimobi Ikegwuruka Picks Kansas State

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament East Regional Practice

Head coach Jerome Tang is still making noise in the transfer portal after Chimobi Ikegwuruka has committed to play for the Wildcats next season.

With three years of eligibility remaining, the 6-foot-6 power forward also held offers from Oregon State, St. Bonaventure, and East Carolina.

He became a Second-Team JUCO All-American player after leading Ellsworth Community College which located in Iowa, to its first JUCO National Tournament appearance in 38 years.

In 21 games last season, Ikegwuruka averaged 19 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, including 20 or more points in 13 contests. His season-high 27 points came in a win over Western Iowa Tech on Dec. 9, 2023. With averages of 2.2 blocks and 2.1 steals, he was one of the best two-way players remaining in the transfer portal.

Ikegwuruka was one of the most efficient players in the country last season, shooting 59.3% from the floor and 50% from three-point range. He was the second Wildcat commit this past week joining Samford transfer Achor Achor, who led the Bulldogs to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Kansas State looks to get back to the Big Dance after failing to make it in 2024. The Wildcats finished the season with a 19-15 overall record and 8-10 record in Big 12 play.
