Former UCF Forward CJ Walker Commits to East Carolina

UCF head basketball coach Johnny Dawkins.

After playing his last four seasons with the UCF Knights, forward CJ Walker transferred to East Carolina, per 247Sports.

With one year left of eligibility, Walker originally transferred to TCU before reopening his recruitment.

The 6-foot-8 forward played his freshman season at Oregon after being ranked as a five-star prospect, which placed him No. 19 overall in the Class of 2019 before leaving for UCF.

In 19 games last season, which included 15 starts, Walker averaged 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds ranking him second on the team. He finished with a season-high 15 points in a loss to No. 1 Houston on March 6. Walker missed several games this past season due to injury.

The newest Pirate was given an extra season of eligibility due to a knee injury that limited him to just four games in the 2022-23 season. The previous season was his best statistical year where he averaged a career-high 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.

The Pirates struggled last season, finishing the year 15-18 which put them at eighth in the American Athletic Conference. Walker brings athleticism and versatility to a team that placed 11th in the conference in team rebounds, last in team defensive rebounds per game, and 12th in team field goal percentage.
