CJ Fredrick Set to Return to Cincinnati for Final Season

NCAA Basketball: Iowa State at Cincinnati

Guard CJ Fredrick has agreed to return to the Cincinnati Bearcats for his last year of eligibility after being limited to 15 games with injury during the 2023-24 season.

In those 15 contests, Fredrick averaged 6.1 points and 1.5 assists, while knocking down 42.6% of his shots from three-point range.

The 6-foot-3 guard played his first two seasons of college basketball at Iowa before playing one year with the Kentucky Wildcats.

Fredrick averaged a career-best 10.2 points during his freshman season with the Hawkeyes while shooting at a very efficient rate from the floor. He shot 48.3% from the field and 46.1% from three.

Head coach Wes Miller has retooled his roster this offseason bringing in Dillon Mitchell from Texas and Arrinten Page from USC. The Bearcats bring back several key pieces back from last season’s squad including Simas Lukosius, Jizzle James, and Dan Skillings Jr.

UC finished the 2023-24 season with a 22-15 record including a win over No. 16 Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament. Its season came to an end in the quarterfinal round of the National Invitational Tournament after a loss to the Indiana State Sycamores on March 26.

During their first season competing in the Big 12 Conference, the Bearcats placed 11th with a league record of 7-11.
