Oklahoma State Softball Makes 2024 Women’s College World Series

Oklahoma State's Tallen Edwards (44) and Rosie Davis (26) celebrate during the NCAA softball tournament Stillwater Super Regional game between the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and the Arizona Wildcats in Stillwater, Okla., Friday, May, 24, 2024.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball team is heading to the Women’s College World Series after beating Arizona 10-4 in Game 2 of their Super Regionals match up.

Oklahoma State blanked Arizona 8-0 in Game 1 on Friday night and rolled to another comfortable victory on Saturday night. The Cowgirls got started right away on a Tallen Edwards two-run home run in the top of the first inning and then Karli Godwin scored on a wild pitch by Brooke Mannon. Aissa Silva started the game, but was already replaced after only recording one out in favor of Mannon.

The Wildcats got one run back in the bottom of the first off Ivy Rosenberry. But the Cowgirls were back at it in the third inning when Rosie Davis and Claire Timm hit solo home runs to make a 5-1. In the fourth inning, Caroline Wang drove in two with an RBI single to put the game out of reach and put the Cowgirls up 7-1.

Emily Schepp had a two-run homer in the bottom half of the fourth, but OSU got those runs back, and more, in the fifth, with a three-run inning. Timm, Lexi McDonald and Jilyen Poullard all drove in runs and the Pokes had a 10-3 lead when a lightning delay struck shortly after in Stillwater.

The game would resume with limited fanfare on the field with Arizona getting one run back in the 5th before OSU rolled to the 10-4 victory.

The Cowgirls are heading to the WCWS for the fifth-straight season, discounting 2020, when the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. This will also be the 12th WCWS appearance in program history.

The Women’s College World Series will begin on May 30th in Oklahoma City.
