Kevin Young and the BYU Cougars made a massive addition through the transfer portal on Tuesday with the commitment of Real Madrid guard Egor Demin.

Demin, a 6-foot-9 guard-forward from Russia, is currently projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and is one of the world’s most talented collegiate prospects.

In a recent 2025 NBA mock draft from On3’s Andrew Graham, Demin was listed as the ninth overall pick.

“Demin is a versatile guard who is a terrific passer and scorer,” SBNation’s Robby McCombs writes. “He has the playmaking ability to play point guard and size to play on the wing. His versatility was on full display last week in Berlin, where he led the Real Madrid U18 Squad to an Adidas NGT championship. In the finals, Egor had 26 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. The 18-year-old re-asserted himself as a potential lottery pick in the 2025 draft.”

Through his last four outings, the Russia native posted some impressive numbers. Demin recorded an average of 18 points, 9.2 rebounds, and three assists per game. Demin is expected to be a major part of the Cougars 2024 squad that has hit the portal hard in an effort to fill some of the offseason losses due to Mark Pope’s departure.
