UCF head basketball coach Johnny Dawkins.

After playing the last two seasons with the UCF Knights, forward Thierno Sylla transferred to Stephen F. Austin.

In two years with the Knights, Sylla averaged 3.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game.

In a win over Jacksonville on Dec. 6, 2023, Sylla showed what he can do when given the opportunity. He scored a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes of action, 15 minutes above his season average.

The 6-foot-11 forward appeared in 32 games last season, starting in 10 of them. He helped UCF finish with a 17-16 record in its first season playing in the Big 12 Conference, placing 11th.

Last season, the Lumberjacks went 18-15, which put them at No. 6 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The squad had a very balanced scoring attack with seven players averaging over seven points per game, led by guard Latrell Josell (12.9 points) and forward Sadaidriene Hall (10.7 points). As a team, they scored 74.6 points per contest, the third-most in the league.

The Lumberjacks will be looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2017-18 season, where the crew ended the season with a 28-7 record.
