Kansas Athletic Director Travis Goff Gets Contract Extension Through 2031

NCAA Football: Texas at Kansas

On Wednesday, it was announced that the Director of Athletics for the Kansas Jayhawks, Travis Goff has agreed to a seven-year contract extension that will keep him in Lawrence till 2031.

The former KU graduate hired Lance Leipold as the head coach of KU football, and the team finished 9-4 in 2023, marking its most wins in a season since 2007. Kansas went from the laughing stock of Big 12 Football, to a team contending for a conference title.

This deal increases Goff’s base salary to $1.3 million, as he was previously the Big 12’s lowest paid athletic director, according to ESPN.

Since being hired in 2003, the men’s basketball head coach Bill Self has amassed a record of 565-132 (81.0 win percentage) during his time with KU, along with two national championships. Goff rewardedSelf to a five-year contract extension in 2023.

Goff has experience working with several other Division I programs such as Northwestern and Tulane, prior to arriving back to his alma mater.

According to ESPN, Goff has also done several things to improve the sport facilities, including $50 million worth of investments in Allen Field House, as well as $450 million in upgrades for the football facilities.
