Watch: UCLA’s Game-Winning Home Run Goes Viral

UCLA's Jordan Woolery (15) hits a home run in the sixth inning of the Women's College World Series game between Alabama and UCLA at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Thursday, May, 30, 2024.

Game 1 of the 2024 Women’s College World Series lived up to the hype. No. 6 UCLA and No. 14 Alabama were deadlocked at one run apiece in the sixth inning.

The Crimson Tide left one runner in scoring position in the top half of the inning, and UCLA then got its chance to try and break the tie. After a hit, an intentional walk, and two quick outs, it appeared the game was headed to yet another scoreless inning.

That, however, was not how things would go when Jordan Woolery would step into the box.

The Bruins’ first baseman squared up a 1-1 pitch and sent it way over the left-field wall to send the OKC crowd into a frenzy.

With the intensity and drama at their highest points all season long when the WCWS comes around, the moments that come to fruition in Oklahoma City are rarely replicable, and this was one of those times.

The win advances UCLA to the winner’s bracket on Saturday, where they’ll face the winner of Oklahoma vs. Duke. Meanwhile, Alabama now awaits the loser of the Sooners and Blue Devils in a win-or-go-home game on Friday evening.
