West Virginia vs. Penn State Kick Off Time Announced

NCAA Football: Duke's Mayo Bowl-North Carolina at West Virginia

For the second straight season, the West Virginia Mountaineers will open up the season against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Last year, Penn State won 38-15 in State College, so this year’s battle will take place in Morgantown on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 12 p.m. EST, per Brett McMurphy.

The game will be aired on FOX and will be the first Big Noon Kickoff game of the 2024 season.

WVU is coming off a 9-4 season, highlighted with a bowl victory win over UNC, whereas Penn State finished No. 13 in the country with a 10-3 record.

Junior quarterback Drew Allar returns for PSU after throwing for 2,631 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only two interceptions last season. In the win over WVU, Allar finished with 325 yards and three touchdowns.

Star running back Nicholas Singleton will be back for the Nittany Lions with high expectations heading into his junior season after reaching the end zone 10 times.

WVU dual-threat quarterback Garrett Greene returns for his senior campaign after shocking the country last season. Heading into 2023, 247Sports ranked him as the worst quarterback starting for a Power Five program.

Greene silenced all doubters, totaling 2,406 passing yards, 772 rushing yards, and 29 total touchdowns while leading WVU to statement victories over TCU, UCF, and Baylor.

West Virginia had the fourth-best rushing attack in the nation last season, averaging 228.9 yards on the ground per game. With Jahiem White and CJ Donaldson set to split snaps once again, the Mountaineers are expected to pick up right where they left off.
