After playing four seasons with Rutgers, forward Mawot Mag will transfer to BYU for his final season of eligibility.

In the 2023-24 season, the 6-foot-7 big man averaged a career-best 9.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.

Mag started in 41 of 80 career games with the Scarlet Knights and helped RU reach the NCAA Tournament in 2022.

This past season, Mag scored 10 or more points in nine contests, including a season-high 24 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Iowa on Jan. 6.

The former three-star recruit played high school basketball for Prolific Prep in California and 247Sports ranked him as the No. 223 ranked prospect in the Class of 2020.

Rutgers finished the 2023-24 season 15-17, placing 12th in the Big 10 Conference, meanwhile BYU had a 23-11 overall record in its first season playing in the Big 12.

Kevin Young was brought in as the newest head coach for the Cougars after Mark Pope left for the Kentucky job.

Mag brings experience to a team that lost several key players to the transfer portal this Spring, including Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, Jaxson Robinson, who followed Pope to the University of Kentucky.
