Former Colorado Forward Tristan Da Silva Rises on NBA Draft Boards

Colorado Buffaloes forward Tristan da Silva (23) reacts after scoring during NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament game against the Marquette Golden Eagles, Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Marquette Golden Eagles won 81-77.

In ESPN’s latest 2024 NBA Mock Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected former Colorado forward Tristan Da Silva with the 17th pick.

A few weeks back, Da Silva was projected to fall late in the first round or become an early second round pick, but a stellar performance at the draft combine has him projected to be selected earlier.

During his senior season in Boulder, the 6-foot-9 big man averaged 16 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, shooting 49.3% from the floor and 39.5% from three.

Da Silva helped CU reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before losing to Marquette. He is one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s draft class due to his ability to defend the perimeter and guard several different positions.

CBS Sports predicts that he will get drafted No. 16 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers. Not only is he a solid defender, but he can score in several different ways. Da Silva is a consistent threat from three, but can also score in the paint.

He also manages to score through contact and knock down free throws consistently, as he shot 83.5% from the line this past season. NBA teams that are in win-now mode can definitely look at Da Silva as a prospect who can contribute right away.

The 23-year old prospect can also distribute the ball, dishing out five or more assists in four outings during the 2023-24 season.
