NCAA Basketball: Morehead State at West Virginia

In just his second season as head coach of the Boston Celtics, former West Virginia point guard Joe Mazzulla has led the Celtics to the 2024 NBA Finals.

Thus far, Mazzulla has a coaching record of 121-43 (.738), which is the highest win percentage in NBA history of any coach through 150 games.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals takes place on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. EST on TNT.

Boston finished with a league-high 64 wins this past season, clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Its path to the finals included defeating the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Indiana Pacers.

The Celtics will take on Luka Doncic and the No. 5 seeded Dallas Mavericks in search of their 18th championship in franchise history.

The former 6-foot-2 point guard played for the Mountaineers from 2006-11 and was a major part of the 2010 squad that reached the Final Four. WVU has not reached that round since then.

Through 213 career games, Mazzulla averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 43.2% from the floor. The guard shot 45% from three-point range in his sophomore season.

In his last season in Morgantown, he averaged a career-high 7.7 points and 4.2 assists.
