Four-star 2025 prospect Jovani Ruff committed to play for the California Golden Bears over Kansas, Oregon, and USC, per On3.
On3 ranks the 6-foot-4 guard as the No. 45 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, and the ninth best shooting guard.
Ruff becomes Head Coach Mark Madsen’s highest ranked recruit and will play his senior season in his home state of California for Long Beach Poly High School.
He helped his high school squad conclude his junior season with a 26-10 record, according to The Bear Insider.
The future Golden Bear is the highest ranked recruit since Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown played for Cal back in 2015.
Kansas misses out on Ruff, shortly after point guard Shakeel Moore transferred to KU from Mississippi State.
The Golden Bears struggled last season, finishing with a 13-19 record. However, the team picked up impressive victories over USC, Colorado, UCLA, and Washington State.
Last season, guard Jaylon Tyson finished 46th in the NCAA in scoring, as he dropped 19.6 points per game. He was very efficient from the floor, shooting 46.5% from the field and 36% from three.
Cal is set to join the Atlantic Coast Conference after the school decided to leave the Pac 12.
