UCF Basketball fans received some good news on Friday with head basketball coach Johnny Dawkins signing a two-year extension to remain in Orlando.

According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel’s Matt Murshel, Dawkins will now add two more years to his time in Orlando after spending the previous eight seasons as the team’s head coach.

According to his Murshel, Dawkins’ base salary is $500,000, with a guaranteed annual compensation of $2 million for the 2024-25 season. That number increases to $2.1 million in 2025-26 and $2.2 million in 2026-27. He is also eligible for performance-based bonuses worth up to $500,000 per season.

“We were very competitive, and right now, where we are in the college landscaape, continuity, and stability are really important as we go forward,” AD Terry Mohajir said following UCF’s exit from the NIT Tournament. “That’s why we believe our future is bright in men’s basketball.”

During his time with the program, Dawkins has led UCF to a 148-103 record and one NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2023, the Knights were impressive but missed out on the Big Dance in their first year in the Big 12 Conference.
