Pat McAfee’s Future With College GameDay Unclear With No Contract Ahead of 2024

With the 2024 college football season just about two months away, Pat McAfee, one of the most popular names in the sports media field, has still not been given a new contract to return to ESPN’s College Gameday.’ as reported by The Athletic.

The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand noted that both sides want to partner up for the future, however they have not agreed to a deal.

Several reports showed that McAfee signed a five-year deal with ESPN last year worth $85 million.

It is no secret that the college football world would be heartbroken if McAfee did not make his return since he quickly became one of ESPN biggest stars.

Kirk Herbstreit, another analyst on the show, made it known that he wants McAfee to return as he told the former NFL punter, “If you dare even think of leaving College GameDay, I’m leaving with you. I am. I am. I’m dead serious.”

McAfee hosts his popular podcast called “The Pat McAfee Show” and previously gave ESPN the rights to license it.

In May, McAfee said, “I don’t know if (many, many years) is the case, but it will get figured out. And it will. It was an honor, it is an honor to be a part of College GameDay,” according to On3.
