Watch: Utah Revives Key & Peele Skit to Signify Joining the Big 12

NCAA Football: Southern Utah at Utah

While the Utah Utes don’t officially join the Big 12 Conference until August, once their days in the Pac-12 are complete, the program released a video on Saturday introducing themselves to their Big 12 opponents.

Utah Athletics posted a famous sketch from Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, recreating presidential introductions converted into football opponents for the upcoming season.

The Utes kick off their first season of Big 12 Football on Thursday, August 29th, against Southern Utah, and play their first Big 12 opponent on September 21st against Oklahoma State. The Utes technically play Baylor in Week 2 of the non-conference schedule, but the game is technically not considered a Big 12 matchup in 2024 due to pre-realignment scheduling.

Utah Football was picked to finish atop the league in the recent Big 12 Preseason Media Poll in its first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Utes 20 first-place votes (906 total) narrowly edged Kansas State (889), who received 19 votes to finish as the league’s champion.

Utah boasts one of the nation’s top quarterbacks returning to action in the fall, with senior quarterback Cam Rising returning from a devastating knee injury. While preseason expectations are a good way to assess offseason respect awarded to each new team, Kyle Whittingham’s group will still have to live up to some lofty expectations in the 2024 season.
