EA Sports College Football 25: Tips and Tricks for Beginners

College Football 25 Tips and Tricks

Depending on the version of the game you pre-ordered, you may have already gotten your hands on EA Sports College Football 25, or you might be anticipating its official release on Friday.

Either way, you’ve probably heard and seen enough to know that the game is incredibly challenging and unlike any football game we’ve played to this point.

There are tons of new features across game modes, but even general gameplay itself feels completely unique.

So, with that in mind, we thought it might be a good time to give CFB25 fans some tips and tricks that will help you make the most of your time as you get familiar with your new favorite game.

Note: This story will be updated as we log more hours and get more familiar with CFB25.

Tip No. 1: Start Off Playing Ultimate Team Challenges

“What?!”

Your first inclination when reading this might be to back out of the article after seeing this suggestion but hang with me. There is no official tutorial in the game, and if you’ve been away from the console for any amount of time, things have changed quite a bit since NCAA 14 was released.

However, the first several challenges in the Ultimate Team mode are quite literally there to teach you the basics. From basic offensive and defensive actions to more complex nuances like using the option or the veer-and-shoot offensive schemes, you’ll learn how the game works by playing challenges in the Ultimate Team mode. Then, once you get the jist of things, you can get back to playing Dynasty or RTG.

Tip No. 2: Get Familiar With the Passing Mechanics

The new “revamped passing” mechanics in CFB25 are a bit more complex than the simple tap-or-hold mechanics of the previous generation of the games. If you try it and can’t get the hang of it, there are a few other options that you can try.

Placement: Enables visual targets to control the pass placement and power. This leaves accuracy to be determined by player ratings.

Placement & Accuracy: Enables a timing element for perfect accuracy on bullet passes on top of visual targets to control the pass placement and power.

Classic Passing: The classic passing controls that give more control of the arc of the pass.

Revamped Passing: The classic passing controls that give more control of the arc of the pass with the ability to perfectly throw passes. Based on rating and pass context, the player can take some power off of their throw to make more accurate passes.

Tip No. 3: Utilize Practice Mode to Master Kicking

In case you haven’t been on social media or played the game yet yourself, the kicking mechanics in this game are incredibly challenging.

Here’s a look at what a 58-yarder as the road team at Neyland Stadium looks like.

About the only thing you can do is go to practice mode and try to figure out the timing for kicks. The good news is, you do have a couple of options to work with when it comes to the action of completing a kick.

The game comes default with a tap+hold option, meaning tap for accuracy and then hold and release for power. However, you can opt to use a tap+tap option that allows you to tap once for accuracy and then again for power. I personally found the latter option much easier, so hopefully, it helps you as well!

There have been so many games lost already with missed extra points, so take the time and try to make sure you’re not the next pone throwing your controller through a window.
