Oklahoma State vs. Utah Latest Odds: Huge Swing on Wednesday Night

Oklahoma State's Ollie Gordon II (0) celebrates a 2-point conversion front of /tJaylon Braxton (11) in double overtime of the college football game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Arkansas Razorbacks at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.,, Saturday, Sept., 7, 2024.

If you follow sports betting, particularly what’s going on in college football betting circles, the Oklahoma State-Utah game probably has your attention. On Saturday afternoon, the 14th-ranked Cowboys will play host to the 12th-ranked Utes in what should be one of the most important Big 12 games of the season.

This game has already had a ton of action from a betting perspective, and it appears the big money disagreed with the line setters in Vegas on how this game would play out. According to OddsShark.com, the matchup opened with Oklahoma State as a 2.5-point favorite at home.

However, as of Monday afternoon, 90% of the money was coming in on Utah, and 92% of the tickets were taking Utah to cover. This led to the line flipping over to favor Utah by as much as 2.5 points, and the news of Cam Rising being available only seemed to strengthen the confidence with that movement.

Fast forward to Thursday, however, and that trend has been flipped on its head. Late Wednesday night, the line made a huge jump, from Oklahoma State (+2.5) to them being favored by 3.0 points — a 5.5-point swing.

Most college football fans look at that and say, “Well, Cam Rising must be out then.” Perhaps someone has some inside information, but, what actually causes a swing of that proportion?

Massive mid-week bets on the Pokes.

It sounds like Mattress Mack is backing Oklahoma State this week.

Rising is still reportedly ready to go this weekend, but in the rare case that he isn’t, Isaac Wilson would get the start after tossing for three scores against Utah State last week.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State has found its offense through the air over the past couple of weeks rather than via Ollie Gordon. In last week’s 45-10 win over Tulsa, Alan Bowman completed 24 of 31 attempts for 396 yards and five touchdowns.

The Pokes and Utes will kick off at 3:00 p.m. CT from Stillwater, with FOX covering the game.
