On Saturday, 15th-ranked Oklahoma (3-0) will play host to No. 6 Tennessee (3-0) in the Sooners first-ever game as a member of the SEC.
This colossal early-season showdown will not only have major ramifications in the SEC race but also heavy College Football Playoff implications.
The Sooners and Volunteers have played just four times, With Oklahoma winning each of the last three matchups. Their most recent meetings came in a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2015. Oklahoma defeated Tennessee in Norman, 34-10, in 2014 and then came back to beat the Vols in Knoxville in 2015, 31-24.
However, this time around feels a little different, as the public is heavily backing Tennessee to go into Norman and knock off the Sooners.
The line for this contest opened with Tennessee (-7.5) — per WagerTalk —and hasn’t moved much, falling to Tennessee (-7.0) despite 63% of the money going on the Vols to cover.
It appears the bet to make on this game is the over, with the O/U opening at 58 points and now sitting at 57 points total, and 70% of the public money being placed to hit the over.
This game is bound to see an incredible amount of money placed on it considering how massive this game is. Not only is it Oklahoma’s first game as a member of the SEC, but it’s also the first time that Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has returned to Norman since he was fired as the offensive coordinator a decade ago.
