Utah quarterback Cam Rising is a game-time decision vs. Oklahoma State with an injury to his throwing hand, according to ESPN.
Utah vs. Oklahoma State kicks off on Saturday in Stillwater in one of the biggest games of the Big 12 football season.
Rising has been limited in practice this week with the injury, per Pete Thamel, and he’s not expected to 100 percent if he does play. He’ll be monitored closely to see how his injured fingers impact how he throws the ball. The fingers play a huge role in both spin and velocity, which will impact his effectiveness in the pass game.
Rising warmed up with a glove on his hand prior to the game against Utah State last week after injuring the finger in Week 2 against Baylor, but he ultimately missed the game.
If Rising can’t go, the Utah football team will turn to Isaac Wilson is a true freshman who made his first career start against Utah State. Wilson went 20-of-33 passing for 239 yards and three touchdowns against Utah State last week. Wilson is the younger brother of former BYU star quarterback Zach Wilson.
Rising is a seventh-year senior who’d emerged as one of the Pac-12’s top quarterbacks in 2021 and 2022, but has dealt with injuries his entire career. An injury in the 2022 Rose Bowl cost him the entire 2023 season, and now he’s a game-time decision in arguably their biggest game of the season.
