On Saturday in one of the biggest games of the 2024 college football season for the Big 12 Conference, 12th-ranked Utah is heading to the field without Cam Rising under center.
In their highly anticipated matchup with 14th-ranked Oklahoma State, Utah trotted out Isaac Wilson as the starter, with Cam Rising continuing to deal with a hand injury.
Heading into the week, Utah quarterback Cam Rising was listed as a game-time decision vs. Oklahoma State with an injury to his throwing hand, according to ESPN.
Rising, a seventh-year senior from California has dealt with injuries his entire career. An injury in the 2022 Rose Bowl cost him the entire 2023 season, and now Rising is dealing with an injury to his throwing hand, sustained in Week 2 vs. Baylor.
The team now turns to true freshman Isaac Wilson, who made his first career start against Utah State and helped secure a 38-21 win against the Aggies. Wilson, the younger brother of Denver Broncos signal caller Zach Wilson, completed 20 passes for 239 yards with three touchdowns in his first outing.
Reports circled around Rising, who was participating in warm-ups with a glove on his throwing hand. While Wilson earned the start on the road in Stillwater, no update has been released regarding Rising’s official status for the deal. Should he take the field after Wilson, the addition would be massive for Utah.
