Skip Bayless was like many Oklahoma fans on Saturday night, beyond frustrated with his favorite college football team’s quarterback play.
Bayless took to X on Saturday night after OU’s 25-15 loss to Tennessee and went off on OU’s decision to let Dillon Gabriel go to Oregon.
Bayless said, “I’m told Dillon Gabriel wanted to stay at Oklahoma for his final year. I have no idea how much Oregon and Phil Knight offered him, but I’m told Oklahoma said no to Dillon Gabriel because they said yes to Jackson Arnold.”
“They feared he’d transfer,” Bayless continued. “He was once the No. 1 recruit in the country as a dual-threat quarterback. Now, I’ve seen Jackson Arnold for four games, including tonight’s Tennessee game. I don’t see any feel for playing the position. I don’t see consistent accuracy, which can be lethal for a quarterback.”
On Saturday, during Oklahoma’s 25-15 loss to the Volunteers, Arnold was pulled in the second quarter and benched for freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. Arnold finished his day going 7-16 for 54 yards and an interception, while Hawkins tossed 11 completions for 132 yards and a score.
As for Gabriel, his Oregon Ducks are currently ranked ninth in the AP Poll as the team continues to stack up impressive wins. Through three games, Gabriel has tossed 914 yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 6-0.
Bayless finished his thoughts by saying, “I’m starting to think my Oklahoma Sooners made a huge mistake.”
