UCF vs. Colorado Gets Prime TV Slot on Big 12 Week 5 Kick Off Announcement

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs

While it can be common practice for television networks to delay the announcement of kickoff times for select teams in college football, in Week 5, the Big 12 had six different games in limbo.

On Sunday, fans finally got some clarity on the situation, with the Big 12 Conference receiving word of when each team would take the field.

The main broadcast of the week to discuss is the 3:30 matchup between UCF and Colorado, which earned the prime time slot on FOX. According to a report from BuffStampede’s Adam Munstereiger, the game marks the fifth time the team has been selected for network TV this season, matching the total from 2023 and the most in a season in program history.

UCF hosts the Buffaloes in Orlando after a well-deserved bye week in Week 4. The team started off 3-0 in 2024, with wins over New Hampshire, Sam Houston, and TCU, while Colorado enters the game on a high note. Deion Sanders‘ squad narrowly eclipsed Baylor on Saturday night in dramatic overtime fashion, 38-31.

While the Big 12 Conference has the most parity of any league in America, the television late selection windows are hurting the league from a fan perspective. As Heartland College Sports’ Pete Mundo noted in a recent YouTube video, “Big 12 fans are getting screwed with the late selection process.”

Unfortunately, for Big 12 fans, the jury is still out on kickoff times for Week 6.
