If you’re a Baylor football fan and you think Dave Aranda should be on the hot seat, one of the most prominent Baylor alums completely disagrees with you.
Robert Griffin III put out a statement on social media on Monday night showing his support for Aranda, saying in part, “Hearing a lot of noise around Dave Aranda and his future at Baylor after the loss to Colorado. So I just wanted to say, DAVE ARANDA HAS MY FULL SUPPORT.”
Here’s Robert Griffin’s full post on X on Monday night.
Aranda and the Bears lost a heartbreaker at Colorado on Saturday that included a Shedeur Sanders Hail Mary as time expired in the fourth quarter to force overtime, where the Buffaloes went on to win the game 38-31.
Aranda has been considered on the “hot seat” after last season’s 3-9 finish, including a 2-7 record in the Big 12. This came after a 4-5 Big 12 record in 2022 when Baylor was picked to get to the Big 12 Championship Game. Aranda did win the Big 12 in 2021 with a 12-2 record, but that is feeling like a distant memory in Waco.
But for the Bears, Aranda clearly has this team improved over last season, and they can really get their mojo back when they host BYU this weekend who is now ranked in the Top 25 after a 4-0 start, including last week’s win over Kansas State.
Overall, Dave Aranda is 25-27 at Baylor and 15-23 in Big 12 play.
