Ahead of the Week 5 matchup between UCF and Colorado, Knights fans epically trolled Florida head coach Billy Napier with some custom signs on the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show.
While it’s no secret that Napier is firmly in the hot seat in Gainesville, UCF fans elected to throw a party to celebrate the Florida head coach’s early retirement ceremony before meeting in Week 6.
Napier has been one of the odds-on favorites to be the next head coach fired alongside Baylor’s Dave Aranda. Since being hired in 2022 at Florida, Napier’s teams have drastically underperformed. Overall, Napier holds just a 13-16 overall coaching record.
In 2023, Napier’s team barely reached bowl eligibility with a 6-7 record despite developing one of the first four picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Selected fourth overall, Napier’s quarterback Anthony Richardson was taken early as the future of the Indianapolis Colts.
Heading into Week 5, UCF has an opportunity to take on Napier in the midst of a tough start to the season. Florida enters the UCF game with a 2-2 record after losing to 24th-ranked Texas A&M and seventh-ranked Miami.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, UCF has had an impressive start in 2024. Gus Malzahn’s team continues to trend toward competing for a Big 12 title game with an undefeated 3-0 record.
While the Week 6 matchup between Central Florida and Florida is still one week away, UCF fans took an early lead in the matchup over the Gators.
