With Kansas State scheduled to play its second “Big 12 After Dark” game in three weeks, K-State head coach Chris Klieman spoke to media members on Monday about the opportunity.
Klieman’s Wildcats secured a prime-time spot on ESPN in Week 7 against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, set to kick off at 9:15 p.m. CT in Boulder.
“We’re playing on the best networks,” Klieman said. “We’re playing on the prime spot. We’re a game that I believe, I don’t know how it works out, but I believe we were probably, along with Colorado, the top pick that week. It’s fun when networks are picking you because you’re one of the better games, and then you’ve got to find out what time you go on.”
The Week 7 matchup in Boulder is going to be a major game in the hunt for Arlington this season. Both teams enter the matchup with a 4-1 overall record, but Colorado has the edge in conference records at 2-0, with Kansas State trailing at 1-1.
The Buffaloes perhaps made the most impressive performance in Week 5, taking down UCF, a team many believed had a great shot at earning a spot in the Big 12 Championship. Kansas State bounced back after a lackluster performance in Provo, taking down then-ranked No. 20 Oklahoma State 42-20 at home.
Klieman finished his comments by saying, “I think it’s a credit to how well Colorado’s playing, and I think it’s a credit to our big win over Oklahoma State.”
