After a disappointing 34-28 loss to BYU on Saturday, Dave Aranda is falling into all-too-familiar territory. Baylor now finds itself a game below .500 and will be underdogs in five of their seven remaining games this season.
That doesn’t bode well for the Bears’ chances of getting back to a bowl — which is almost certainly needed if Aranda hopes to remain the head coach in Waco for much longer.
Aranda addressed some of the frustration with how things have gone through the first several weeks during his scheduled media conference on Monday.
Among other things, he was asked what changes he expects to make after this weekend’s loss. However, the answer he provided here was pretty blunt.
According to Foster Nichols of Bears Illustrated, Aranda said that the changes he expects to make after the BYU would be to start “playing four quarters of football.”
Nichols also reported that Aranda described the mood in the Bears’ locker room right now is “frustration” and “urgency.”
Things won’t get any easier for Baylor this week, either, as they’ll hit the road to take on No. 16 Iowa State (4-0) in Ames. That game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. kick on Saturday, October 5.
