Georgia made just its second trip to Tuscaloosa since the start of the College Football Playoff era to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the regular-season battle between National Championship contenders did not disappoint.
After the Tide jumped out to a 28-0 lead, Georgia found a way to climb back into the game and even took a 34-33 lead late in the fourth quarter — which lasted all of one play from scrimmage.
Then, Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams (did you know he’s 17 years old?!) connected on a 75-yard touchdown to give Alabama the lead for good.
It was must-see television, and by the looks of it, the nation would tend to agree.
According to On3, the matchup between the Bulldogs and Tide drew a ridiculous 11.98 million viewers, with a peak viewership of 14.1 million — making it ESPN’s most-streamed regular season game of all time.
However, Bama vs. Georgia wasn’t the only game to turn in eye-popping numbers for viewership. Colorado’s trip to Orlando to take on UCF drew 4.08 million viewers on Saturday, making it the third-most watched game of the week, and just behind Oklahoma-Auburn (5.04M). The Buffs went into the Bounce House and trounced the Knights, 48-21, and appear to have included themselves in the Big 12 race after a 4-1 start.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State also made the list of most-watched games over the weekend, drawing 1.87 million viewers — good enough for 10th on the list. Avery Johnson and Kansas State dominated the Top 25 matchup, with his five-touchdown performance lifting the Wildcats over the Cowboys, 42-20.
