Iowa State Makes Cutdown List for Four-Star Basketball Prospect

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Basketball Tipoff

On Friday, TJ Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones were included in the top 3 cutdown list for four-star center Kai Rogers.

Rodgers, a 6-foot-10 center from Wisconsin, is choosing between Iowa State, SMU, and Oklahoma as his future college.

Coming out of Overtime Elite in the Class of 2025, Rogers is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 68th-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the eighth-ranked player at his position and the 10th-ranked player in the state of Georgia.

“That was a great visit, too,” Rogers told On3’s Joe Tipton about Iowa State. “I got to see the whole campus, watch a practice, talk with some of the guys. I watched a basketball game earlier in the year, too, and I got to see them play Kansas. That was a good game. It’s a very fast program, playing-wise. They relate to the NBA. They have guards, and bigs handle the ball.”

An impressive player in his class, Rogers received offers from 20 different programs, including Iowa State, Cincinnati, TCU, Texas, West Virginia, Illinois, Illinois, Marquette, and more.

247Sports’ Director of Recruiting, Adam Finkelstein, spoke on the Milwaukee native in a recent write-up, saying, “Overall, Rogers was one of the best true centers in the UAA this year and has clear room for future growth with improved conditioning, development of his face-up tools, and improved balance, timing, and consistent positioning on both ends of the floor.”

While the Cyclones will still have to beat out SMU and Oklahoma to land the four-star center, TJ Otzelberger and company find themselves in a great position to strike with another impressive prospect in the Class of 2025.
