Garrett Greene Suffers Injury vs. Oklahoma State

NCAA Football: Oklahoma at West Virginia

In a tough break for Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers, senior quarterback Garrett Greene headed for the locker room after suffering an injury in the first quarter.

The injury occurred during a major scramble for Greene, good for 40+ yards, but after the play, the Florida native appeared to have a tough time lifting his throwing shoulder.

After missing two drives with an injury, Greene returned midway through the second quarter to lead West Virginia against the Cowboys in Stillwater.

Last season with the Mountaineers, Greene posted some impressive numbers as a junior. The Mountaineers’ signal caller recorded 147 completions for 2,406 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 16-4. In addition to his stellar numbers through the air, Greene proved to be one of the nation’s elite dual-threat quarterbacks, with more than 700 yards on the ground and 13 scores.

An underrated gem in his recruiting class, Greene checked in as a three-star prospect on the 247Sports index. He was listed as the 570th-ranked player in his class, the 21st-ranked dual-threat quarterback, and the 75th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

In his absence, sophomore quarterback Nicco Marchiol entered the contest and finished West Virginia’s drive off with a bang. Marchiol tossed a 10-yard touchdown to Traylon Ray to put the team up 10-0. He then led a long touchdown drive in the second quarter that was capped off by running back Jahiem White scampering 10 yards to the end zone.

West Virginia leads Oklahoma State 17-0 in the middle of the second quarter.
